| With the greater goal of a solar-powered, sustainable home that would be available for the masses, the team partnered with a Pennsylvania modular builder to create the Natural Fusion home. A traditional Pennsylvania industry, modular homes are tightly built for greater energy efficiency and their streamlined production reduces construction waste. The team chose a company that was already producing Energy Star rated homes. We took it one step further, integrating Pennsylvania-based green building products into the construction process, and ultimately expanding the opportunities of this industry for future sustainable housing production. The modular shell of the home was set up on the Penn State campus and finalized. During this time, power was supplemented by the Power Lion, a portable solar array equivalent of our school mascot. | |||||||||||||||||
