Natural Fusion regards using natural resources effectively as the capstone of rethinking energy. All our systems are designed to operate at high efficiency, while minimizing the overall energy demand throughout the home.

The Solar Decathlon emphasizes building integrated photovoltaics (BIPVs). We are redefining BIPVs, by proposing the integration of photovoltaics into the systems that make up a building.

Our main power system is on the roof, Green Roof Integrated Photovoltaics (GRIPVs "grip-vees"). Green roofs provide many benefits to a home, but usually at a cost, not using solar panels. We believe that no homeowner should have to make that decision. Therefore, we selected a type of solar panel that allows for 360 degrees of solar collection, allowing the necessary light to support plant life below. The plants aid the PV system in providing evaporative cooling and reflection of light up towards the underside of the panels. The weaving of these systems and roofing membranes makes sense for the systems and Natural Fusion BIPVs.

Another element of our solar power design is the solar tracking awning. The awning provides shade from the summer sun and allows the winter sun to enter the home aiding thermal mass and daylighting.
